Hannah Chambers

Hannah Chambers is a solicitor in our police law department. Her caseload focuses on three areas: police misconduct; civil actions and public law challenges concerning the Immigration Service; and working with the families of persons that have died in custody.

The treatment of children and young people within the immigration system is a theme within Hannah’s current caseload. She represents victims of torture and clients suffering from severe mental health difficulties who have been unlawfully detained by the Immigration Service.

The care of children and young people in custody is also a focus of Hannah’s inquest work. She currently assists a number of families where children or young adults have died in detention.

Qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, Hannah joined Bhatt Murphy a year later. She trained at Bindman & Partners and on qualification was recruited to manage a caseload based on actions against the police and mental health law.

Hannah gained an upper second class law and anthropology degree from the London School of Economics, and was awarded a distinction having completed the Legal Practice Course in 2002.

Hannah is a member of the Police Action Lawyers Group, the Miscarriages of Justice Lawyers Group and the Inquest Lawyers Group.
