On 9 April 2019, the Council of Europe’s Legal Affairs Committee is holding a further hearing in relation to the report by Rapporteur Pieter Omtzigt, on ‘Daphne Caruana Galizia’s Assassination and the Rule of Law, in Malta and Beyond: Ensuring the Whole Truth Emerges.’
Appearing will be Malta’s Minister for Justice and Attorney General. Daphne’s sons Andrew and Matthew Caruana Galizia will also be in attendance. Caoilfhionn Gallagher QC and Andrew Caruana Galizia was amongst a panel of speakers at a side event organised by NGOs at the Council of Europe on 8 April 2019 entitled: “Impunity in Malta: The Assassination of Journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia”, an event co-sponsored by Lord Foulkes of Cumnock, the Council of Europe’s General Rapporteur on Media Freedom and Safety of Journalists.
